Teacher Appreciation Day

Posted in Uncategorized on May 23, 2012 by lizcreates

My twin daughters are in the same fourth grade class, so I have just one teacher to give a gift to on Teacher Appreciation Day.  She is tall and slim and wears neutral colors and long necklaces.  I made this necklace for her, and saw her wearing it a few days later – it looked great with her outfit.  If I hadn’t known her I wouldn’t have made anything like this, I prefer shorter necklaces with big pendants; this one doesn’t really have a pendant, just a center bead made from a local glass artist.Image

Kanzashi quilt

Posted in Uncategorized on May 5, 2012 by lizcreates

I started making Kanzashi fabric folded flowers, and decided to put together a quilt of them.  I made 50 flowers, brought them to my kids’ class, and had the kids pick out a flower, a button for the middle, and a fabric background.  This picture of them is a rough draft,  in random order, just to get a feel for how it will look once assembled.  Two kids were absent, once theirs are in, I’ll also do a square with the date and classroom number.   I bought quilting supplies to help with this project, and I’m getting excited to start on other small quilt projects, like tote bags and purses.
